Ben Kalb came into the infomercial arena in 1990 from a television and journalism background. He was one of the producers for the famed syndicated TV magazine show, PM Magazine, along with other reality-based television shows. Prior to that he was a sportswriter for the Honolulu Advertiser and did freelance sportswriting for the New York Times. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and started his TV career and his infomercial production company there. Now, his company is based out of Las Vegas. Besides, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Ben Kalb Productions, LLC has produced shows in San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Toronto, and Europe. In fact, many of his clients are based out of Europe. Ben lives in Las Vegas but he also has a weekend home in San Diego. Ben prides himself on being hands-on. He writes, produces and directs his own infomercials as well as consults with companies or marketers on how to “fix” other shows that aren’t working. Ben is a graduate of the University of Oregon (journalism), and donates to the school annually to create/fund The UO Student Film Festival (Adrenaline Film Project), now in its 6th year, and the TV/Film On-Camera Hosting Workshop, now in its second year. He also funded the first two years of the Sports Media Workshop. At the Adrenaline screenings, Ben gives out the Kalb Jury Award to the winning team of filmmakers. In addition, he donates regularly to Make A Wish Foundation (Southern Nevada), and in 2010 produced/directed a short film on a little boy’s wish to be Spiderman that earned the “Wish Of The Year” honor.
